North Yorkshire police have referred themselves to the Independent Police Complaints Commission over the circumstances leading up to a fatal car crash.
Douglas Scott died in the accident which happened in Stokesley on Saturday, where a crash involved a Range Rover.
Police say that a similar vehicle had been involved in two incidents reported to them earlier that day.
As a result, the force has referred itself to the police watchdog.
Two teenagers are facing charges in connection with the collision.

A fifteen year old boy was arrested close to the scene and police are now appealing for help to find the occupants of the Range Rover. The vehicle was seized by officers at the scene and is now being forensically tested.

A pedestrian has been killed after a collision with a car in the small North Yorkshire town of Stokesley. It happened just after twelve o'clock yesterday afternoon when a silver Range Rover hit the pedestrian and a wall of a building on the town's North Road.
Police say the occupants of the Range Rover were seen running from the vehicle following the crash. One was arrested nearby and a search is now ongoing to locate the others.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may know who the vehicle's occupants are to come forward.
