Official figures have revealed that unemployment in the North East fell by 10,000 in the three months to November, with a total of 119,000 people unemployed in the region between September and November.
The region's unemployment rate was 9.1% and saw a fall of 7.75% during the period.
Nationwide, a record number of people are in work after yet another fall in unemployment and a further dip in the numbers claiming jobseeker's allowance.
Unemployment has fallen by 10,000 in the North East - bringing the proportion of people out of work down to just over nine percent.
The statistics for the three months between September and November also show a fall of one percent in unemployment in Cumbria.
