The Archbishop of York visited a Middlesbrough school yesterday to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
John Sentamu was visiting the Unity City Academy, on Ormesby Road, to address staff, students and the local community.
He praised the Academy for its best-ever GCSE results last year which made it the most improved school in Middlesbrough.
Forty-seven per cent of students achieved five A-C grades, nearly doubling 2011’s results, with 90 per cent achieving five A-C grades overall.
The Archbishop of York has been in Middlesbrough to take part in school anniversary celebrations.
Dr John Sentamu was the guest of honour at Unity City Academy in Ormesby Road.
The school is commemorating its tenth year and also celebrating winning the accolade of "The most improved school in Middlesbrough."
