Weather: Snow and ice risk overnight
Risk of 2-5 cm of snow in places tonight. Maybe more for eastern slopes, with drifting possible.
Snow showers will be 'all or nothing'' as they align into bands and push west. Clearer skies in between.
Winds will be strong. Temperatures will be low (-4C).
A widespread frost with the risk of ice.

A snow shower at the Angel of the North today didn't deter people from visiting the landmark.
Weather: Sunday
A brighter day with sunny spells but bitterly cold with a raw northeast wind. Highs of 3C
Wintry showers will develop during the day, moving in from the North Sea.
Accumulations of snow will be variable into Sunday night as the showers develop and align into bands, pushing southwest. 2-5 cm of snow is possible anywhere and as much as 10 cm over east facing slopes by Monday morning.

Weather: Grey & damp today. Cold & wintry weekend
Today: Cloudy skies. Patchy outbreaks of showery rain. Feeling cold with brisk east wind. Highs 6C
Overnight: Cloudy, misty & murky with more persistent rain, with wintry element over northern Pennines.
Weekend: Saturday starts cloudy and wet. Temperatures dip during the day and the rain turns increasingly wintry. 1-3 cm snow cover possible locally, over 5cm possible by the end of the day above 300m. A Yellow Met Office 'Be Aware' warning has been issued.
