Connor Toghill, the Tyne and Wear Karting champion, is training at Sunderland University to improve his fitness, stamina, reaction times, balance and flexibility.
The training has knocked a second off his racing lap time.
Connor Toghill,13, has won the Tyne and Wear Karting Championship, Junior Max class, after working on endurance and fitness with the University of Sunderland. He's now competing in the Northern Karting Federation and has ambition to race Formula 1.
His improved fitness has helped knock a second a lap off his race time and improved his stamina so he can maintain the speed throughout the race.
