Police have named the 52-year-old woman found dead in Cramlington as Christine Baker. Alan David Baker, 56, has been charged with her murder.
He appeared before South East Northumberland Magistrates this afternoon.
He is due to appear before Newcastle Crown Court on Thursday.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman inside a house in Cramlington, Northumberland.
Officers say they were informed of the death of a woman inside a house at Byrness Row at 4:19am today.
Northumbria Police say a man, aged 56, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is helping police with enquiries.
Police say the woman was 52 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
