Attack victim will get surgery on NHS

A woman whose nose was shattered in a violent attack has won her fight for corrective surgery to be paid for by the NHS.

Rebecca Beattie, from York, struggles to breathe through her nose after she was beaten up by an ex-boyfriend, Bradley Want.

She was initially told she would need to pay for an operation herself.

But the NHS has now ruled her treatment is eligible.

Rebecca says she's delighted with the result, but it's been a long time coming.

Attack victim refused surgery on NHS

A woman from York who was beaten up so badly by her ex-boyfriend that she still has problems breathing, has been refused NHS funding to fix the problems with her nose.

Rebecca Beattie's former partner was sent to prison for the attack, but now she says without corrective surgery she's struggling to rebuild her life. You may find some of the pictures in James Webster's report distressing.
