TV personality and ChildLine founder Esther Rantzen has set up a helpline for older people. It is called The Silver Line and aims to provide advice, information and friendship.

The founder of Childline, Esther Rantzen, is launching another phone line, this time for older people who may feel lonely and isolated.

Childline was set up 26 years ago. The new helpline, The Silver Line, aims to provide advice, information and friendship.

TV personality and ChildLine founder Esther Rantzen has set up a helpline for older people. It is called The Silver Line and aims to provide advice, information and friendship.

It was launched regionally in Newcastle after running since the end of last year in Manchester. Since then it has received 2,700 calls, mostly from people aged 70 to 90.
