Martin Longstaff, of The Lake Poets, played a song about his father's experiences of working down a mine. It was ahead of Durham's Brass Festival where he and the band will perform with full brass backing.
A songwriter from Sunderland is about to perform what he describes as his most 'ambitious project yet.' The Lake Poets is a folk band, and they have been working with a brass band on new material for Durham's Brass Festival at the Gala Theatre.
Martin Longstaff told ITV News Tyne Tees how overwhelmed he is by local support and how excited he is to have brass backing on 19th July. He spoke to Rachel Sweeney about the festival, Radio One attention and the North East music scene.
