A man has appeared before magistrates charged with the murder of a Northumberland woman who went missing more than eight years ago.
He is charged with killing Janet Brown, from Lowgate near Hexham, and faces allegations of fraud amounting to hundreds of thousands of pounds.

A man has been charged with murder in connection with the disappearance of a woman from Hexham.
Donald Graham, 59, of Elsdon Avenue, Seaton Delaval, has been charged with the murder of Janet Brown. He has also been charged with two counts of obtaining a money transfer by deception, and13 counts of fraud.
In addition, Donald Graham is jointly charged with Elizabeth Todd, 51, of Elsdon Avenue, Seaton Delaval, with forgery, conspiracy to commit fraud, and perverting the course of justice.
