Bouncers across the country will be trained to protect vulnerable people after a successful trial in Newcastle.
Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner, Vera Baird, launched the Security Industry Authority (SIA) training scheme. She says the project was created because many door staff didn't know the correct action to take if they spot a vulnerable person in the street.
Specialist training for door staff to protect vulnerable people socialising in bars and clubs will be rolled out nationally after a successful trial in Newcastle.
More than 100,000 door staff across the UK will take part in specialised Security Industry Authority (SIA) training.
It's part of a ground breaking initiative, launched by Northumbria PCC Vera Baird, to ensure they can identify vulnerable people and know what steps to take to help protect them.
