Dad dies after celebrating son's birth

A father from Middlesbrough has died after celebrating the birth of his son. Benji Bolsenbroek, 23, died on Sunday morning. Cleveland Police are treating it as suspicious.

A father from Middlesbrough who was killed while celebrating his son's birth was involved in a "large scale significant disturbance" according to police.

Benji Bolsenbroek died in the early hours of Sunday morning after a night out in Middlesbrough.

Cleveland Police Det Supt Rob Donaghy told a press conference that they did not know what part Mr Bolsenbroek played in the incident but they are not treating his death as murder.

The new father made his way to his mother's house after being assaulted in the Park Hotel on Linthorpe Road.

He was later taken to James Cook hospital, Middlesbrough, where he died.

It is still unclear how he died after post mortem results were inconclusive.

Specialist search teams have been looking for weapons in the area around the Park Hotel.

Detectives are now examining CCTV from inside the hotel and said they are confident of making arrests.

Police investigating the death of a father who died while celebrating the birth of his son will hold a press conference later.

Benji Bolsenbroek, 23, is believed to have died after an altercation outside the Park Hotel, on Linthorpe Road, in Middlesbrough in the early hours of Sunday.

Mr Bolsenbroek, whose son Kianey was born less than a week ago, was celebrating with six or seven friends.

Earlier he had posted on his facebook page that he was looking forward to wetting his son's head.
