The funeral will take place for Danny Wake on November 19. The three year died last Monday when he was hit by a car, police are still trying to trace the driver.

Boy, 3, killed during Christmas present trip

A three-year-old boy killed in an alleged hit and run in Darlington was on his way back from getting a Christmas catalogue so he could choose his presents.

Danny Wake was run over on the corner of Neasham Road on Monday, November 4. He was walking home from the town centre with his mother and younger brother Georgie.

A 24-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, was released without charge last night.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

"This is a tragic incident and we send our heartfelt sympathy to the boy’s family.

"We are appealing to members of the public to help us establish the events leading to the collision.
