A seven-year-old boy has died in a crash after he stepped off a bus at Boosbeck in East Cleveland. Nathan Smith was with his mother and brother when it happened.

A 22-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed pending further inquires.

"Nathan was a beautiful, happy, cute little boy, who was always very full of life and was loved by everyone.

"He was very bright and loved going to school. He adored all his family, friends and teachers and got along with all the people he knew and will be very sadly missed.

"He was loved by everyone who knew him, his friends, family and teachers. It is a very difficult time for all the family and all the people in the villages of Lingdale, Boosbeck and surrounding areas whose hearts he touched.

"We as a family would like to say a special thank you to all who paid a special tribute for a special little boy by putting down flowers, teddy bears and cards for Nathan.

Police name boy involved in fatal Boosbeck crash

Police have named a seven-year-old boy who died in a crash after he stepped off a bus.

Nathan Smith who lived in Lingdale was with his mother and sibling when the incident happened in Boosbeck, East Cleveland, last night, November 15.

He was rushed to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

A 22-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
