Mark Arthur, 50, will serve a minimum of 18 years for stabbing his wife, Heather, in their home in Gosforth last April.

Mark Arthur was sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court this morning.

Mark Arthur stabbed Heather at their family home in the Gosforth area of Newcastle. She had told her husband she wanted to end their 30-year relationship.
Tonight, police said they welcomed the verdict.
Arthur will be sentenced tomorrow (Friday) at Newcastle Crown Court.
