North Yorkshire Police issue direct appeal to missing York man

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police has issued a direct appeal to 22-year-old Ben Clarkson, who did not return from a night out at the weekend, to contact his friends and family.

Inspector Jo Brooksbank spoke to media outside a police station in York.

"If you see or hear this appeal I urge you to contact the police immediately. Your family and friends are very worried about your welfare and are desperate to know that you are safe and well.

"In the meantime, I ask anyone who has any information about his current whereabouts to contact police as a matter of urgency."

Police "very concerned" for missing York man Ben Clarkson

North Yorkshire Police said it was "very unusual" for missing Ben Clarkson not to be in touch with his friends and family and they are very concerned about his welfare.

Inspector Jo Brooksbank said her officers have already carried out searches of his likely route from Fibbers nightclub on Stonebow, where he was last seen early on Sunday morning, to his home in Heworth Green.

Underwater search teams have also searched the River Foss in the areas between Iron Bridge, Huntington Road and Foss Basin.

Ben was wearing dark skinny jeans, a grey t-shirt with eiffel tower logo and grey pumps with a white trim.

'Officers extremely concerned' for missing York man

Police in York are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of a missing 22-year-old man from the city.

Ben Clarkson was last seen at 3.30am on March 2, outside Fibbers Nightclub, Stonebow.

Police have searched Ben’s route home and examined CCTV in York.

A team from the regional underwater search unit are carrying out searches of the River Foss, between the Iron Bridge, Huntington Road and the Foss Basin.

“Ben, if you are safe and well, I urge you to contact the police immediately. Your family and friends are very worried about your welfare and are desperate to know that you are safe and well.

“In the meantime, I ask anyone who saw Ben after the time he was last seen or has any information about his current whereabouts, to contact the police as a matter of urgency.”

Officers are extremely concerned for Ben’s welfare.

Police divers join search

A RIVER rescue team will join the search for a missing York man today.

Ben Clarkson, 22, of Heworth, was last seen outside Fibbers nightclub in Stonebow at about 3.30am on Sunday, and police said it was unusual that he would be out of contract with his friends and family for so long.

Teams search the River Ouse

This morning, the Yorkshire And The Humber Marine Unit - which conducted a series of searches of the River Ouse for Megan Roberts in January and February - have confirmed they are to be deployed to York to search for the former York St John University student, who now works at Music Room in Lendal.

Police diving teams have joined the search for Ben Clarkson

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the team would be searching the River Foss throughout today, with land searches of the river banks also taking place, but said the river searches were just one line of investigation.
