Newcastle Falcons boss Dean Richards says next year's Rugby World Cup will "open a few people's eyes".

Newcastle has been chosen as one of 11 host cities for the tournament with Scotland, South Africa and New Zealand all playing matches at St James' Park in October 2015.

The Rugby World Cup trophy has been in Newcastle as part of a UK tour ahead of next year's tournament, which is being hosted in England.

The world-famous Webb Ellis Cup was on display at Kingston Park, the home of the Newcastle Falcons.

Newcastle is one of 11 host cities that will be staging World Cup matches next year. Scotland, South Africa and reigning world champions New Zealand will be among the nations playing at St James' Park in October 2015.
