Police given more time to question murder suspect

Cleveland Police officers have been granted more time to interview an 18-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman in Middlesbrough.

The body of a woman in her twenties was discovered in a house on Parliament Road, Linthorpe on Saturday, 3rd May.

Officers said they believe the woman is from Eritrea, and they have made contact with someone believed to be a family member, although they have not yet formally identified the body.

Police forensic teams were investigating a house, where a woman in her twenties was found dead. Officers were called to Parliament Road in Middlesbrough early on Saturday morning, where they found her body. A post-mortem test showed she died after an assault.

A man aged 18 has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
