Thousands run Sunderland 10K and half marathon

About 3,500 people have run either the Sunderland 10k or half marathon races, which both took place on Sunday morning.

Organisers of the Run Sunderland Festival say the event was a success and ran smoothly for runners and spectators.

The day started with the Sunderland City 10k. Won by Ian Hudspith of Morpeth Harriers, crossing the line in 31:39. First lady was Danielle Hodgkinson of Wallsend Harriers in 36:19.

The Sunderland City Half Marathon was won by Yared Hagos of Wallsend Harriers in 65:07. Sunderland Stroller Aly Dixon won the women’s race in 74:31
