Police have cordoned off the semi-detached home of 59-year-old Michael Snelling, the man they arrested last week on suspicion of the murder of York University chef Claudia Lawrence.
Mr Snelling was released on police bail after a day of questioning by detectives investigating the disappearance and suspected murder of Miss Lawrence in March 2009. Last week forensic specialists searched Mr Snelling's home and garden in York and also another property in North Shields.
Mr Snelling's home is now cordoned off with police tape and a police incident support van is parked on his drive.
Forensic searches at properties in York and North Shields are expected to continue for a number of days, as police investigate the disappearance of chef Claudia Lawrence.
Last night a man named locally as 59-year-old Michael Snelling was released on bail following his arrest on Tuesday. Kenny Toal reports from North Shields.
Forensic teams are continuing to search a house in North Shields in connection with the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence.
North Yorkshire Police said there is a "possibility of further arrests" in the case of missing chef Claudia Lawrence.
"As investigations continue with the possibility of further arrests to be made, all sections of the community and the media are reminded and encouraged to respect the rights of others, including those connected to the case," the force said in a statement.
"To date, nobody has been charged with any criminal act emanating from this case," police stressed.
Forensic searches at properties in North Shields and York are expected to continue for a number of days, as police continue to investigate the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence.
The chef, who worked at York University, went missing in 2009. on her way to work.
