Man arrested in conenction to Claudia Lawrence investigation bailed

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence arrested a 46-year-old man, from the York area, on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. He has been bailed.

Claudia's father hopes arrest is 'vital piece in jigsaw'

The father of Claudia Lawrence hopes today's arrest of a 46-year-old man by police investigating her disappearance "is another vital piece in the jigsaw", his spokesman said.

Peter remains very grateful for all the hard work that North Yorkshire Police are continuing to put in to finding Claudia.

It is to be hoped that this is another vital piece in the jigsaw of information that needs to come in to the police: it is much better if people volunteer information than wasting valuable police time in them having to find it out for themselves and then come looking for people.

Officers working on the Claudia Lawrence case are carrying out their investigations at The Acomb pub in York.

This comes after detectives arrested a local man on suspicion of perverting the course of justice earlier today (Wednesday 23rd July).

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence have this morning (Wednesday 23rd July) arrested a man on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

The 46-year-old man, from the York area, is currently being interviewed in custody. Meanwhile, searches and forensic enquiries are taking place.

Claudia Lawrence was last seen on 18 March 2009. She was 35 years old when she disappeared and working as a chef at the University of York.

Members of the public with information about the case can contact North Yorkshire Police by calling 101.

A £10,000 Crimestoppers reward is still available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Claudia Lawrence's disappearance.
