Durham Big Ride gets underway

Around 1,000 cyclists took part in the Durham Big Ride this morning (Sunday 31 August).

Organiser Ed Tutty told ITV News Tyne Tees: "

What it isn's is a race - that's the main thing about it. It's all about getting out on your bike and having some fun. And a great day in County Durham like today, what can be better than getting out on your bike?"

Around 1,000 people have taken part in this year's Durham Big Ride. It is the eighth year the cycling challenge has been held with routes around the city.

Riders set off from Durham County Hall at 9.30am this morning (Sunday 31 August).
