Police are appealing for information after a collection tin raising money for Armistice Day was stolen in Durham on Thursday night.

Officers say a burglar broke into Durham Light Infantry Museum at around 11:15pm through a cafe window. The building's alarm was activated when the window was smashed, but the suspect entered the cafe anyway and removed the tin. It it not known how much money was taken.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Durham Police on 101.
