A twenty-four hour 'swimathon' is underway in Sunderland.
Hundreds of volunteers will swim in hour long shifts at the Aquatic Centre. The event started at midday and the pool will remain open all night.
The swimathon is one of several sporting activities being held to celebrate the upcoming Olympics.
