North Durham MP inspires open talk about depression

North Durham MP Kevan Jones has been thanked for talking about depression by Barrow MP John Woodcock. Mr Woodcock has written about his battle with clinical depression after a string of injuries. He said it has not changed the way he does his job, nor has it affected his relationships in Parliament.

"I felt I needed to do something because the painfully long time it is taking to recover from banging my head when I fell off the ladder means there are regular periods when I am left utterly drained by simple tasks and barely able to get out of bed – and that exhaustion can make me really down."

He thanked Kevan Jones MP and said he derived such strength from him.
