Celebrating new schools

Celebrations have been held to mark the end of building work on two new primary schools forCounty Durham.

The new builds have seen Brandon and Esh Winning replaced by modern constructions with state-of-the-art facilities.

Both schools have been open since April 2012 with Brandon costing £ 7.2m and Esh Winning £6.4m.

Two questioned after cannabis find

Police say a quantity of cannabis plants has been found at an address in the Esh Winning area of County Durham. The search followed a routine vehicle check in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Two men were then arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and the property in Esh Winning was searched. The men are in custody helping with enquiries.
