- Sunday 4th May from 10am to 3pm
– Alex Bennett, chief fire officer for Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service
"We have a duty to ensure we have robust plans in place to provide a fire and rescue response during industrial action, and we will be putting these plans into action.
“We must stress that it will not be business as usual however, and homes and businesses should take extra precautions.”
“We are urging people to take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones from the risks of fire, including ensuring they have working smoke alarms fitted in their homes.
“We have contacted businesses and other premises to assist them in further minimising the risk from fire and other emergencies.”
