A 19-year-old man is critically ill in hospital after being hit by a car in Newcastle.
The accident happened on the Great North Road near Jesmond when he was hit while returning from a night out.
Police say that the car involved was travelling north and did not stop.
A 20-year-old man has been bailed as investigations continue.
Two men and two women have been released with no further action.

His white Audi collided with a single decker bus, which was on the southbound carriageway.
The 61-year-old bus driver was taken to Newcastle's RVI with minor injuries. The road was closed for five hours.
