Petition to be handed to Parliament
The 2nd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment is due to be disbanded as part of government plans to reduce the number of troops by 20,000 before 2020.
The unit, also known as the Green Howards, recruits widely across Teesside as well as North Yorkshire.
The petition has been organised by the MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, Tom Blenkinsop.
