James Arthur 'still with Syco'

Saltburn's James Arthur has denied speculation that he was dropped by Simon Cowell's label Syco. It has been reported that The X Factor winner was sacked because of controversial lyrics.

Simon Cowell has tweeted his support for James Arthur who is releasing his debut album. James is from Saltburn and won The X Factor, going to number one with his single Impossible. He has also shown backing for Little Mix. the girl group has two members from South Tyneside.

James Arthur has spoken about the challenge of appealing to different fans since he won the X Factor last year.

He feels he has to strike a balance between the audience he had before he found fame and the fans who helped him to win the show and reach number one in the charts.

He promised to release a "commercial" album every year - but said he will also produce a rap album, and then a rock one, to express the different sides of who he is.
