Geordie comedian Dave Johns says he has to keep pinching himself after starring in a Ken Loach film which won the top award at the Cannes Film Festival.
'I, Daniel Blake' tells the story of an unemployed joiner and was filmed around Tyneside.
Dave Johns, who has been working as a stand up comic since 1989, says playing a straight and serious role was challenging but that he enjoyed the way Ken Loach worked. Traditionally, actors are given scripts to memorise, but this film was more focused on improvisation.
Dave explains why it meant so much to him to film on Tyneside and how it felt to work on a serious film.
