Trade unionists, Labour MPs and hospital doctors were among those demonstrating outside the Liberal Democrat conference at the Sage in Gateshead. Consultant Dr Clive Peedell ran from Teesside to Tyneside in a protest he dubbed "Bevan's Run" in opposition to proposed reforms to the NHS.
