Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has reportedly been sent death threats on Twitter from Uruguay fans blaming him for a knee injury that could rule Luis Suarez out of the World Cup.
The 22-year-old, who was this week named in the Wales squad to face Holland in June, was sent off for a tackle on Suarez during Newcastle's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on the final day of the Premier League season.
Dummett's red card and subsequent automatic three match ban has since been rescinded by the Football Association. But the Uruguay Football Association has confirmed that Suarez had to have surgery on his knee as a result of the collision with Dummett.
The Uruguay FA released a statement claiming the surgery was successful and Suarez is expected to be out for around two weeks. Although a similar injury ruled out England defender Phil Jones for around ten weeks.
Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says Luis Suarez' ten-match ban could "infuse" Liverpool.
The Merseyside club travel to St James' Park in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
