Newcastle City Centre is expected to be at a standstill today as the public join police to remember PC David Rathband who died last week. The service has been organised by PC Rathband's twin brother.
The officer, who was blinded by gunman Raoul Moat, will be mourned at St Nicholas Cathedral at midday. His funeral will take place in his home town of Stafford on March 17 with a public service, followed by a private burial.
PC Rathband will be buried in his uniform, with his hat and gloves on top of the casket.
