Northumbria Police say they want to thank everyone who attended the Sunderland International Airshow over the weekend for helping to make it a success.

They estimate that a million people visited the Seaburn and Roker areas over the last three days and the event passed smoothly and without major incident.

"We are delighted with how the Airshow has gone from a policing perspective and it's been a really great event to be part of. Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and the feedback from members of the public about how we policed the event has been fantastic.

"Everyone involved in the running of this event should be really proud of how it's gone and we're already looking forward to doing it all again next year."
