In the hotel, most seem ok but a few seem shaken up, witnessed a few very relieved families meeting up and realised they're all ok #Boston

Ross Murray makes Olympic debut

Wallsend middle distance runner Ross Murray made a sensational Olympic debut in the men's 1500 metres.

His fourth placing in Round One at the Olympic Park tonight was enough to qualify for this weekend's semi final.

The Wallsend Harrier said he was overwhelmed by the occasion and the home crowd.

A successful junior athlete, Ross nearly gave up running altogether a few years ago to become a holiday rep after being plagued by illness and injury.

His next race is on Sunday.
