Durham's Olympic rower Jessica Eddie posed for a 'selfie' with the gold medallist Heather Stanning, who's back in training after a tour of Afghanistan in her day job with the British Army.
Selfie - a photo taken oneself - has been named Word of the Year 2013 by the Oxford Dictionaries.
The British men's lightweight four, including Durham's Nathaniel Reilly-O'Donnell, took fifth place at the rowing World Championships in Korea.
Ten Olympic rowers, including the gold medallists Kat Copeland and Sophie Hosking, will compete in a charity regatta in Hexham on Saturday. The fun day is being organised by one of their GB teammates, Matt Wells. The money raised will go towards his foundation, set up to help talented young rowers.
Great Britain are through to the final of the women's eight after finishing fourth in their rowing repechage at Eton Dorney.
Among the athletes is Jess Eddie, from Durham, who's team finished a length behind Australia to claim the last place in Thursday's final.
Netherlands and Romania finished first and second respectively.
