Hundreds of children cared for over the years in the Special Care Baby Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle have been reunited for a Christmas party. The event was organised by the Tiny Lives charity which helps premature and sick newborn babies and their families at the unit.
A man is seriously ill in hospital after a suspected hit and run in Durham.
It happened on Cockhouse Lane, Ushaw Moor at 02:30am, Sunday 11th August.
Police say they think a Ford Fiesta collided with the 21 year old pedestrian before driving off at speed.
The man is being treated at Newcastle's RVI for multiple injuries and remains in a serious condition.

A bone marrow donation from Germany is being prepared for a life-saving transplant operation for baby Danny Bryan, from Middlesbrough.
Danny has Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome, an immune deficiency disorder which means he cannot fight infection.
The operation is being carried out at the Bubble Unit at the RVI in Newcastle.
Baby Danny Bryan who has virtually no immune system, is getting a bone marrow transplant which should help him lead a normal life.
He's been travelling to Newcastle's Bubble Unit for treatment from Middlesbrough.
