Boxer crowned World Champion
A County Durham boxer has been crowned Britain's first female world boxing champion.
Savannah Marshall, from Hartlepool, beat Azerbaijan's Elena Vystropova 17-15 at the World Championships in China today - on her 21st birthday.
The victory caps a superb week for the middleweight fighter, after she also qualified for this summer's London Olympics yesterday.
Hartlepool boxer seals Olympic place
A boxer from Hartlepool has booked her place in Great Britain's Olympic team for London 2012.
Savannah Marshall, a middleweight, defeated Russia's Nadezla Torlopova 18-10 in the World Championships in China today.
The victory also puts her through to Saturday's world final.
