Essential annual maintenance is to be carried out next month at Sutton Bank, one of North Yorkshire’s most important transport links.
The bank carries the A170 up an extreme gradient. The work this year includes the annual inspection and maintenance of the rock face.
To allow this maintenance to be done, Sutton Bank will close on Monday 5th September. The closure is expected to last one week, depending on the weather.
Detective Superintendent Lewis Raw from North Yorkshire Police explains how a DNA profile could help identify the body of a woman found on Sutton Bank in 1981.
Detectives working on a thirty-year murder investigation say they've been able to build a full DNA profile of a woman whose body was found near a North Yorkshire beauty spot.
Her body was exhumed earlier this year in the hope that modern science may help to solve the mystery.
