A holidaymaker who tried to bring a haul of weapons into the UK from abroad has been jailed for two years.

Craig Dalkin from Sunderland was caught with a stun gun, two CS gas canisters, an extendable baton, two knuckle dusters, a flick knife and a folding knife at Newcastle Airport in June of last year.

Newcastle Crown Court heard that he had just got off a flight from Bulgaria when he was stopped by Border Agency staff.

The 23-year-old claimed that some of the weapons were to be used as ornaments.
