A soldier who served in Afghanistan is taking on a new challenge to raise money for a charity that helps his daughter.
Lance Corporal Dave Gullane, from Newcastle, is taking part in the first 379 mile marathon across a frozen Siberian lake to help raise money for the charity that helps his daughter.
The 28 year old is raising money for The Children's Foundation's Great North Children's Hospital Appeal.
Six year old Emily sufferers from a rare condition, her bladder and kidneys did not form properly, she has already had to have one of her kidneys removed as a result.
The condition is so rare that doctors only see one case every five years in the North East and Emily's condition is the worst they've witnessed.
Dave will face temperatures as low as -40 as he aims to raise £5,000.
