Nissan's announcement today that it is making new investment in Sunderland has been welcomed by Paul Woolston, Chair of the North Eastern Learning Enterprise Partnership.
Nissan has revealed that it will build its new compact car, INVITATION, at its Sunderland Plant, creating an estimated 2000 jobs at the plant and in the wider supply chain.
This is excellent news for Sunderland and the region. By creating much needed employment, it will make a great contribution to work to rebalance the economy of the North Eastern LEP area. This [investment] is a vote of confidence in the area.
