A memorial service for PC David Rathband is set to take place this weekend.
The police officer, who was shot and blinded by gunman Raoul Moat, was found dead at his home in Blyth, Northumberland last week. He will be mourned at St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle.
The ceremony has been organised by the officer’s twin bother, Darren. His family have been invited, along with a host of politicians and senior dignitaries.
Darren Rathband said:
“Anyone who has shown any interest in David's life and what he stood for is welcome to come to the service and show their respects.
"It will be a celebration of his life in the North East where he served people as a policeman before we then take him home to be buried with his family."
The service will take place at midday on Saturday.
