Hopes fade to find missing Ian Bell alive
Police say they are simply 'searching for Ian Bell' now, rather than working on the basis that he is alive.
Officers would not comment on whether they now assume he is dead, but throughout the day many volunteers began to express their fears he could not survive the cold.
