Former England international Sol Campbell has announced his retirement from football.

The defender made over six hundred appearances for five different clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Portsmouth, in a career spanning almost two decades. He also won 73 caps for his country.

The 37-year-old signed for Newcastle United on a one-year deal in July 2010, but made just seven appearances during his time at St James' Park.

Campbell has been without a club since leaving the Magpies in May 2011.
