Family honour fallen Durham soldier

The 12-year-old son of a fallen soldier with open a new building at Catterick Garrison in his honour.

A new annexe to the mess at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, is to be named after a former instructor who died while on operations in Afghanistan.

Serjeant Steven Campbell, from Chester-le-Street, County Durham, worked at the ITC between 2007 and 2009 before returning to the 3rd Battalion The Rifles, and deploying to Afghanistan in 2010.

He died on March 22, 2010, while on a routine patrol after being hit by a bomb.
