Black Cats release Gordon
Sunderland have released goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
The Scotland international is one of nine players to be let go by the Black Cats.
Gordon joined the club from Hearts in 2007 for £9m - then a British record transfer fee for a goalkeeper.
However, the 29-year-old made just 95 appearances for Sunderland after a string of injuries and a loss of form.
Meanwhile, Nicklas Bendtner, Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Wayne Bridge have all returned to their parent clubs after completing loan spells at the Stadium of Light.
