Concern over Metro strikes

Concerns are growing that planned strikes by Tyne and Wear Metro workers could affect two concerts in Sunderland.

RMT Union members announced strike action will be taken on June 7 and 21 - dates that Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen are scheduled to perform at the Stadium of Light.

Meetings to avert the strikes are ongoing. But should the action go ahead, bus company Go North East has said it would provide extra bus routes.

DBTW, which operates trains and stations on behalf of Nexus, is expected to make a statement later today.
