Platforms and tracks are empty this morning as Tyne and Wear Metro workers stage the first of two strikes.
The second day of strike action is planned for June 21.
Fans of the band Coldplay travelled to Sunderland despite Metro strikes and rain.
Coldplay fans were reliant on extra bus services to take them home from a concert last night because of strike action on the Metro.
The Tyne and Wear Metro is running again today after yesterday's strikes. It was timed to coincide with the Coldplay concert in Sunderland.
